Sit tight, and get ready to know us and our activites closely!!

As the popular Hindi saying goes...
बूँद बूँद से सागर बनता है, same is the case with IEEE GIT. We were just 4-5 people who were dedicatedly active in the year 1985, but that was just a stepping stone in the immense success of our branch. We have not just grown ourselves but have also helped many dormant student branches on our way to revive and have also guided new institutes to start a student branch of their own. As they say great things have small beginnings our students used to publish only technical papers, indeed that wasn't less but was just a small beginning. As our family started growing, student activities and student technical symposiums were initiated. Gaining experiences from old conferences like GITCON in 90’s to INFINITY in 2004, IEEE Student Branch has come a long way in contributing to IEEE Community.

Let us get you acquainted with our activites over the years.....
So, this is the biggest flagship event of our organistaion which started in 2006 The birth of “Paanchajanya” took place with the thinking and intention of bettering the techno - managerial skills of the students of our family and also of the college. Along with this aim it was also organized with the motto- ‘EDUTAINMENT’. The word “Paanchajanya” was coined by the students Mr. Anurag Agarwal and his team, which is the name of the conch of Lord Krishna used in the war of Mahabharata. This conch and its sound symbolises victory of dharma over adharma, superiority of light over darkness. And in less than the time expected, our flagship event became very popular and students across various engineering colleges in the radius waited eagerly for the event to take place every year. It is being organized every year since 2006.
After the success of PAANCHAJNYA, student branch did not celebrate but strived towards excellence and expanded its activities for the whole year. Since 2011, Student branch members are representing the Institute at ALL INDIA level.
GIT student branch was one of the 3 institutes (KLS’s GIT Belagavi, KLE CET Belagavi, MMEC Belagavi) who hosted the first North Karnataka Hub event i-GREEEN in 2013. And not only that but our branch also holds the honors of hosting the first North Karnataka Student Young Professionals WIE Congress in the Year 2016.
Isn't that great?
We also have small events like Spectrum Days where technical talks are organised for student members by the EXECOM team.
And if this is not all we also have WIE affinity group at the branch with it's seperate office bearers. Every year Women’s Day is celebrated on 8th March. It was named SPIRITONICA and a 1-day event was conducted in the year 2012 and we have never looked back since then. Since then till 2015 SPIRITONICA has been celebrated on every Women’s Day. Since past 2 years it is named TRIGARTI (feels more Indian :-) ) and spirit of Womanhood is celebrated. We have also organised panel discussions and debates on the following topics: Women Empowerment; Issues faced by Women Employees; Careers for Women in Engineering etc. Recently the WIE affinity group celebrated UDAAN on 7th March 2020. Since 2 years the group appreciates the lady staffs of the institute by honouring them with essentials as a token of gratitude.
And how can we forget the celebration of the birth of our IEEE student branch which is celebrated every year on the first Tuesday of October
Members also participate in an online coding competition which runs for 24 hours, which indeed is quite interesting... It is conducted every year in the month of October. In the past competitions our members have won at National/ International level. Another feather in the cap of IEEE
We have achieved a lot in the past years by the support of our family and also by the grace of GOD. Student Branch being 17 years old is active and has reported all its activities in time Three of our honoured Members have been elevated to Senior Member IEEE through ELEVATE program. Branch WIE affinity group was selected under STAR program in the year 2014 and was supported with funds of $300.00 for its activities and contribution to IEEE WIE. Under the student branch, department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering initiated the ‘Power and Energy Society’ student chapter in the year 2019.
So, now that we have also recieved the support of you and have you onboard we are sure that we are bound to achieve much more in the future Student Branch will eye for achieving best Branch; best BC; best Branch Website etc. awards at Section and Regionl level. We are keeping an objective of hosting All India Students Congress; WIE National Summit in the next 5 years. We will collaborate with industries nearby and file online petition for starting a Technical Society or Chapter and organize ONE International Conference in the future. Last but not the least we will try to conduct compulsory ONE humanitarian event every year and make it a flagship event to support society and stay with IEEE motto: Advancing technology for humanity.
